Announcement
On behalf of the Board of CALU, I am pleased to announce the appointment of Kevin Wark, LLB, CLU, TEP, as President of CALU, effective October 1, 2011.
The creation of the President role within the CALU organization represents the fulfillment of a directive initiated in the 2007 long-range planning meeting and subsequently supported by the Board and membership. A search committee interviewed several excellent candidates and retained a national executive search firm to provide an objective review of the candidates and the selection process.
The President is expected to help in the fulfillment of CALU's mandate and take a leadership role as directed by the Board. Reporting to the Chair, CALU, Kevin will provide operational guidance for the newly independent CALU, allowing Board members to be more focused on governance and strategic oversight.
Kevin is highly regarded in Canada's financial sector as an expert in the areas of taxation, insurance and estate planning. He has also held senior management positions with Manulife Financial and Equinox Financial Group. Most recently he was Senior Vice- President, Business Development at PPI, a national distributor of insurance solutions, while also supporting CALU in the role of Chair, Tax Policy.
The author of two published books, Profiles in Estate Planning and Everything You Need to Know about Estate Planning, Kevin is a highly sought speaker at numerous industry and tax-related conferences including CALU's Annual General Meeting. He is a contributing writer to the Advocis Forum, editor-in-chief of Insurance Planning and has authored articles for many other publications within Canada's financial and insurance sector.
Kevin holds professional memberships with the Canadian Tax Foundation, Advocis, and the Society for Trust and Estate Practitioners. He is a past member of the Board of the Toronto Community Foundation and was Chair of its Professional Advisors Committee.
Please join me in welcoming Kevin to the role of President and in wishing him continued success in his new role with CALU.
Sincerely,
Susan St. Amand
