CALU Announces 2009 Theme
The success of CALU's annual meetings demonstrates the organization's commitment to engage a diverse group of advanced practitioners willing to enhance their expertise and deepen their awareness of the issues and events which influence both the market in which they compete, and the public policy environment that governs the effectiveness of product solutions. Key to this programming success is the development of innovative, stimulating and meaningful content, presented in a way that informs and educates, while capturing the imagination. CALU, under the leadership of AGM Chair Lee Raine, is already at work developing such programming for May 2009.
The 2009 program – to be held May 3 to 6 – will explore the theme "A Lifetime of Achievement", noting that the word "lifetime" is comprised of two discrete terms "life" - with its obvious extension to the use, purpose and meaningful application of life insurance, and "time" - the factor that limits, shapes and defines growth and capacity, and which creates the need to anticipate its inevitable consequences through planning, protection and preparation if one's estate and achievements are to survive for future generations.
Life confronts us with a series of challenges: risks to be assessed and addressed. Often we find that those who achieve, those who excel in life, find a way to turn risk into reward and continually embrace the prospect of exploring and exploiting new profitable opportunities.
Achievement is based as much on commitment as it is competence. Put simply, advanced advisors, as high achievers, have a desire to be the best and to work with the best. They are, also, very sensitive to the reality that time is the most precious of all commodities, and that one does not dedicate themselves to a "lifetime of achievement" only to have accomplishments squandered, wasted and left unprotected.
Entrepreneurs, working with and through their advisors, understand the fundamental importance of continuity, appreciating the capacity to confirm a lifetime of achievement and to create a legacy of lasting, tangible significance.
As advanced advisors, CALU members engage in a unique and meaningful dialogue about protecting the past in order to fulfill the future, working with businesses, families and individuals to safeguard their most valuable assets, often helping to construct a plan to ensure an estate, business or foundation lives on, maximizing and extending its impact on successive generations.
CALU 2009 will also address the fact that advanced advisors need to renew and refresh their own goals, their drive to achieve, embracing the on-going challenge of competition and service, enjoying the experience, and continuing to strive to surpass previous personal bests, if not explore new measures of success, while searching for that sense of balance and meaning in their lives and their work.
CALU's conversation with its members continues in May 2009 as we explore the theme "A Lifetime of Achievement".
