CALU Vision
Leadership in innovative advanced planning solutions and advocacy to promote the financial health of Canadians.

CALU Mission
CALU promotes a deeper understanding of complex financial and tax initiatives for members and clients and influences sound public policy.

The Conference for Advanced Life Underwriting (CALU) is an organization dedicated to advancing the interests of its members relating to advanced life underwriting. Prior to incorporation as a non-share capital corporation in January of 2011, CALU was a conference of The Financial Advisors Association of Canada (TFAAC). CALU was originally formed by the Life Underwriters Association of Canada, the former name of TFAAC, in January of 1991.

CALU members provide personal financial, business succession, estate planning, wealth creation, retirement planning and employee benefits services to their clients, many of whom are the owners of family businesses.

Membership in CALU is restricted to individuals who meet the professional standards set for admission to the organization’s three categories: Member, Provisional Member and Associate.

  • Active and Provisional Members are licensed practitioners providing financial services and life insurance and related financial products to their clients.
  • Associate status is available to personnel involved in the design and development of financial products and services.

Through the annual meeting and seminars, CALU provides Members, Provisional Members and Associates with a forum in which to discuss and exchange information to improve the quality of products and services provided for clients.
